The Story of ISKCON Founder : Srila Prabhupada
Srila Prabhupada was born as Abhay Charan De to a pious Hindu family in Calcutta on September 1, 1896. As a youth growing up in British-controlled India, Abhay became involved with Mahatma Gandhi’s civil disobedience movement to secure independence for his nation. However, it was a 1922 meeting with a prominent scholar and religious leader, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, that proved most influential in Abhay’s future calling.
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta was a leader in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, a monotheistic tradition within the broad Hindu culture, and asked Abhay to bring the teachings of Lord Krishna to the English-speaking world.

Govardhan Ecovillage: Inspired by Radhanath Swami
Radhanath Swami is one of the world’s most beloved and respected spiritual teachers. Born in Chicago in 1950, he spent his teenage years traveling the world, experiencing its rich cultures and diversity. His longing for knowledge about God led Radhanath Swami, known as Richard Slavin in his youth, on a journey throughout Europe and the Middle East, during which he carefully studied the scriptures of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam..
